Devon Branch

 Programme for 2007 - 2008

As we currently have no Musical Director, the program features visiting conductors and volunteers from the branch.

As we have been unable to finalise all arrangements at the time of writing, it is possible that there will be one or more additional visiting conductors. Details will be available here.

8th September 2006 John Byrt will conduct. (Morning)
John will be well known to some members. A harpsichordist, composer and musicologist, John has had a long association with recorder groups, and will bring something fresh and interesting for us, I have no doubt.

Heather Brooke will conduct in the afternoon.
13th October 2007 Paula Campbell will be our Pastoral Visitor

10th November 2007

Katie Walder & Debbie Nicholas will conduct in the morning.

Katie and Debbie are from Bath SRP: Katie studied at Goldsmith College and plays in a recorder duo, and Debbie teaches flute and recorders in schools, and has published a scheme for teaching beginners

8th December 2007

Sharon Lambert (from Plymouth) will conduct in the morning. This will include the Toy Symphony complete with toy instruments. 

In the afternoon there will be a mixed bag of conductors from the branch.

We will again have a "Bring and Share" lunch - bring some food and share it with others. But please don't all bring mince pies!

12th January 2008

Heather Brook and Peter Chislett will conduct.

9th February 2008 Pam Smith & Steve Marshall will conduct.
Pam is Musical Director of Cheltenham & Gloucester Branch, and Steve of North Cotswold Branch. There will be a wide range of music, including doubtless some of Steve‘s own compositions.
8th March 2008 Trevor Furness will conduct.
Trevor is a recorder player of over 20 years standing who came to this area from Northern Ireland a couple of years ago. He holds the Performance Diploma from Trinity College London, and has performed regularly as a soloist and ensemble player. He is currently a teacher of a range of students and brings an unrivalled enthusiasm to all of his work.
10th May 2008 Robin Powell will conduct.
Robin has a long experience in conducting orchestras and recorder groups and will doubtless give us an interesting variety of music, including a new composition perhaps.

Playing Day with Andrew Collis

Saturday 13th September 2008

Playing until 4pm

Bring a packed lunch.
There will be a short lunchtime recital at 1.45pm

It is a real privilege to have Andrew come to our branch for a very special playing day. You can let the Branch Secretary know, or just come to our usual venue.

Andrew was born in Birmingham in 1967, where he studied recorder with Paul Clark, before attending Trinity College of Music. Here he undertook a fourth year performance course, studying with Philip Thorby. Further studies were with Eve O'Kelly in London and in Amsterdam. He has been a finalist in the Moeck Solo Recorder Competition on two occasions and he performs in both Early and Modern Music Ensembles, playing a wide range of music. He has produced several CD recordings.
